Hey guys this October is Frocktober! If you haven’t heard of the initiative before it’s all about raising awareness for Ovarian Cancer as well as funds for research.
Every year roughly 1,500 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer and 1 in 10 women lose their battle. Although it’s not as common as other cancers, it’s often detected too late, so proportionally more women die.
Frocktober began back in 2007 with a group of friends raising $200. Now eight years later, the initiative has raised over $1 million for OCRF.
So the idea is that every day of October, regardless of activity or weather I will be wearing a frock. I have a wardrobe full of them, some which have never been worn and I can’t think of a better reason to get them out!!
I’m also going to host a ladies night so that we can dress up in our best frocks and think about all the amazing women we know and the amazing women that some of us have lost. It’s all about getting the conversation moving so that women know the symptoms and know when to get the help they need.
I’ve set up a supporters page with Everyday Hero so that I can help raise money and do my bit for this cause. If you want to donate go here and if you just want some more information go here.
This October forget about pants and keep an eye out, because the next frock you see could be for a frocking good cause.
